Steel bones and busks

Ok so now I've done a bit more research U-( and I now know that this bit:

....is the busk. It is a foot long. And from the photo on the front of the pattern packet, appears to be where the front of the corset is fastened:

So far so good.
These are the steel bones:

All 22 of them. This is going to be complicated! Eeek.

They're steel strips, ordered and cut to length, dipped in plastic, and capped at the ends. They are ordered individually (say, 4 at so many centermetres) and are about 25p each.

There's something strange about holding the steel bones. To actually see them in the 'raw' as it were, and feel how hard and cold, and long, they are, is quite suprising. I don't know how to explain that.

It might sound really daft but if you were living just down the road I'd really like to sit and watch

Of course I'd hold stuff if asked :))

I'm just really curious when someone can make stuff or do something that I know I can't or I've never seen.

You'd be put work probably keeping kittens from dangling off the fabric by a claw!

I'm curious too. I have no idea how corsets are made - they seem to be one of those things a dressmaker aspires to (but probably never has the nerve to try). As I have nowt to lose but time, I may as well give it a shot.

In that case I need to have a suit of armour and I'd be armed with a water pistol :))
